Travel & Tourism

“I can’t think of anything that excites a greater sense of childlike wonder than to be in a country where you are ignorant of almost everything.”                                                                                                                                                           Bill Bryson

Travel and Tourism studies will appeal to you if you would like to develop an appreciation for the diversity and complexity of the travel and tourism industry.  This is still one of the fastest growing markets in the world today.

What you will study in the first year is both the industry and the customer; the destinations of Europe and Britain; how to travel safely and how tourist resorts operate.

In year two you will look at responsible tourism; current issues; employment opportunities; sales and promotions; special interest holidays and travel organisations.

Being taught in the holiday destination of Mallorca allows the students of this subject access to the most up to date industry specialists and every opportunity is taken to make the most of this.

The course is assessed by a mixture of coursework and an examination but for some of the units you can choose the type of organisation or sector of the industry you want to study in more depth.

There are many opportunities for employment in this area and the A Level counts towards entrance for university courses throughout the world.
