IAL Chemistry
“The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed.”
C.G Jung
Chemistry is one of the central Sciences because it helps develop our knowledge, understand ourselves and all the materials and living things in the Universe. Everything is based on Chemistry. It is in the food you eat, clothes you wear, the page you are reading now, medicines, water you drink…
Some of the reasons for studying Chemistry:
- Looking for patterns in chemical behaviour. Chemists look for the way in which chemicals behave.
- Work out the composition and structure of materials. New materials such as fibre optics exist only because chemists understand how atoms, ions and molecules are arranged in different materials and the forces which hold these particles together.
- Developing new skills. Chemists and those who study Chemistry use their thinking and practical skills to solve practical problems. They rely on modern instruments to explore structures and chemical changes and they also use information technology to store data, search for information or to publish their findings.
Those who pass the International A level in Chemistry have the necessary skills to access a wide range of degrees such as: Medicine, Biology, Engineering or Veterinary Science. Furthermore, the skills learnt in a science subject are useful for many careers. You will be always recognised as a good employee if you show abilities in organizing your time and tasks. We understand that facing changing life situations with a scientific mind is highly valued.
The International A Level in Chemistry covers a huge range of knowledge: from the basis of Chemistry relating to how atoms are built up, to the most modern chemistry concepts such are MS or IR techniques.
